Brasov - Romania
Wander its maze of streets, stopping for caffeine injections at bohemian cafes between losing yourself in a beguiling coalescence of Austro-Hungarian gingerbread roofs, baroque gods, medieval spires and Soviet flat-tops. Or just casually stay in one place and drink. The city's centerpiece square for example (Piata Sfatului), a people-watcher's mecca, is the perfect place for that! Either way, there are so many things to see and taste that you will never run out of things to do. Brasov is filled with both domestic and foreign tourists happily enjoying their time in what is known as Romania’s green capital. As the city is surrounded by mountains and forests, you have the chance to explore the wilderness on the hundreds of hiking trails available or enjoy casual wood made barbecues if you’re just feeling lazy.
It’s not just the city, as the surroundings are also equally attractive. For example, Rasnov Fortress and Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle) are only 20-30 minutes away. Like animals? Brasov hosts the biggest brown bear reservation in Eastern Europe among others. The entire region of Brasov is so nice that even Prince Charles has a house here and visits every year!
